The Boulevard of 500 Flags in Eastlake is a very unique memorial site. Its inception came about on Memorial Day 1995 when, according to the organization’s website, over 500 flags were purchased through generous donations of over $25,000 from local Veteran’s groups and local businesses so that Eastlake would have a way to honor veterans all year round and not just on holidays. The organization honors 26 servicemen who “were killed in the line of duty or missing in action from World War 1 to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
