The Boulevard of 500 Flags in Eastlake, Ohio is a very special place. The idea came about on Memorial Day, 1995. According to the organization’s website, over 500 flags were purchased through generous donations of over $25,000 from local Veterans groups and local businesses so that Eastlake would have a way to honor veterans all year round, not just on holidays. The organization honors 26 serviceman who “were killed in the line of duty or missing in action from World War I to Operation Iraqi Freedom. Eighteen flags flying at half-staff still honor these 26 servicemen today.”
Saturday, March 2, 2019, from 6-11 p.m. there will be a fundraiser at Patrician to support this important site. The event includes dinner, an open bar, Chinese Auction, silent auction, side boards, a 50/50 Raffle, door prizes and more. Tickets are $35.00 and can be purchased at Eastlake City Hall and on their website: https://www.500flags.org/announcements. Proceeds from the event will support the upkeep of the Boulevard of 500 Flags.
